He preferred being on his own so it didn't matter to him what people thought or acted towards him, cold, warm, or otherwise. So he shouldn't feel any different now, but... For the first time, he does. He can't say he's unaffected.
That said, that's all internal. Outwardly he just remains the same, expression difficult to read—though there may have been the faintest flicker, the slightest furrow of his brow at the beginning when she first speaks. But after that, everything is maintained as..."normal" as he listens.
And he really wouldn't have been surprised if that was the end of it, so he's caught a little off guard by her return question, his answer notably delayed by a second.]
